Compassion is at the Heart of Our Care.

We aspire to a society where all older people are treated with respect and have the opportunity to lead fulfilled lives.

We are one of the few organisations providing grants to older people facing financial crisis so they can afford essential items such as food, heating, disability aids and even funeral costs.

The aim of the service is to help relieve the stress and worry often experienced by those living on a low income, and to help combat isolation and loneliness.

Our grants service provides one-off grants and regular allowances for people of state retirement age and who do not fit the criteria for other funders.

If you or someone you know would benefit from a Friends of the Elderly grant please apply for grants through a referral agent.

Supporting long-term sustainable change

We bring together residents, professionals and decision-makers to co-design a long-term programme that is bespoke to the needs of the local community.

We call this way of working “place-based change”.

“It meant that I could move into a more suitable home. I felt like a prisoner in my old flat.
I was socially isolated and became depressed. I could not see how I would be able to afford the costs of moving and this was also weighing heavy on my mind.

Without the grant I don’t think I could have done it, so thank you.”

Our Care Services

Our person-centred residential and day care services support the physical and mental wellbeing of each individual, while providing important social support and companionship.

We pride ourselves on creating a home-from-home environment where older individuals can enjoy their later years, and family members can be confident that their loved ones are not alone and receiving the best care possible
